Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization,
Inc. has been celebrating Down Syndrome Awareness Month with a
Buddy Walk since 1995! The Buddy Walk Committee is already
meeting to plan our upcoming 14th Annual Buddy
Walk for acceptance and inclusion of all people with Down
syndrome in Palm Beach County, Florida.
First and foremost an awareness event, the Buddy Walk is also
our annual fundraiser and supports our organization throughout
the year. Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization is a health and
educational resource, family support organization. We give
current and positive information about Down syndrome to new
parents and healthcare providers, sponsor many wonderful social
opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome of all ages,
provide parent trainings as well as educational advocacy and
work to ensure that individuals with Down syndrome can grow up
to live, work and play in their community.
Some current projects include an Educational Advocacy Conference
on March 15, 2008, member families attending the PEAK Inclusive
Education Conference, our Executive Director attending the
Affiliates in Action Conference, Social Activities for Tiny
Tots, Preschoolers, Inbetweeners and Teens, and our Health and
Wellness Exercise class for Young Adults with Down syndrome.
