The Learning ProgramGold Coast Down Syndrome Organization is an affiliate partner of The Learning Program, developed by the Down Syndrome Foundation of Orange County, California in 2004. The Learning Program complements formal instruction in literacy and math. It also has occupational and speech therapy components. The Down Syndrome Foundation has partnered with educators, researchers, therapists and administrators to develop a program that uses effective teaching strategies and customized materials to support parents, teachers and children in the educational process.
GCDSO began our Learning Program model in September, 2008 with a group of 15 families whose children with Down syndrome were aged 4 to 7. In September, 2011 we are proud to serve almost 60 families with children between the ages of 2 to 13 years old. We hold sessions once a month from September through May in Lake Worth. If you are interested in learning more about how you and your child can participate in this wonderful program that is making a difference in the lives of our local families, please contact us at gcdso@bellsouth.net.
